NouvLR Selects Montreal Startup GoMaterials to Source Plants & Trees for the Réseau Express Métropolitain
Montreal-based wholesale plant sourcing service will help add over 3,000 trees and 70,000 plants for the city of Montreal.
Montreal-based startup GoMaterials has been selected to source plants and trees for a part of the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) project by the NouvLR General Partnership – a consortium composed of SNC-Lavalin Major Projects Inc., Dragados Canada, Inc., Groupe Aecon Québec Ltée, Pomerleau Inc. and EBC Inc. The project will add over 3,000 trees as well as over 70,000 plants to Greater Montreal Area along the upcoming REM stations and facilities.
“We are proud to be a part of this prestigious project by NouvLR which will revolutionize mobility for the greater Montreal area,” says Marc Elliott, CEO of GoMaterials. “GoMaterials was launched in Montreal by Montrealers. Over the years we have contributed to many landmark city projects across not only Quebec but also across Florida, New York, and Texas in the United States. However, being a part of the Réseau Express Métropolitain project holds a special significance for us, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to contribute to the city’s development and long-term sustainability objectives” he adds.
Plants and shade trees procured by startup GoMaterials for the NouvLR General Partnership will further add to the city’s iconic landscape. A mix of over 30 species of native trees, including many known for their distinct autumn hues, have been chosen for the project.
Plantation of plants and trees is already underway, planned to be completed in a phased manner across different segments of the REM project.
